Diffusion 2019 in Berlin

We supported multiple projects at Diffusion 2019 which is an amazing 2-day event in Berlin focusing on blockchain, AI, IoT and big data. Members of the Web3 community came together to hack, to listen to amazing talks, to watch product launches and live demos. At Factory Berlin, Outlier Ventures organized with 20+ blockchain protocols great challenges and tracks that were rewarded with cash prizes. More than 500 developers attended and built great applications and tools for the new internet of value.

The following tracks and subcategories were available for teams:

  • A Stack for Good
  • ETHBerlin and the DoD
  • Web 2.5:
  • The Odyssey Serendipity Network
  • Token Engineering
  • Machine Learning in the Decentralised World
  • Shaking Up the Model
  • Sharing in Consortia Networks
  • The Usable Stack
  • Identity and and beyond with Hyperledger

The following projects were rewarded for winning their category or being the runner-up:

$dai daddy: DAI daddy is an autonomous, open-source platform for buying and selling Maker CDPs. (https://devpost.com/software/diffusion-placeholder)

ID.earth: ID.earth helps movements to keep their momentum and make real political impact through self-organization, by on-boarding members onto strong identity and bootstrapping local democratic communities. (https://devpost.com/software/id-earth)

CarbonCreditsClub: A decentralized marketplace generating carbon credits & supporting carbon offset farms. (https://devpost.com/software/assetnomics)

Effortless Parking: The future of parking: No more wasting time and money searching for parking spots. Finding ideal offers without worries about disputes leveraging fetch.ai Autonomous Economic Agents (https://devpost.com/software/effortless-parking)

Connect2Evolve-Lastwatt: Smart routing of energy based on community voting (https://devpost.com/software/connect2evolve-so45a9)

Decentral Card Network: A DAO which develops a trading card game on a blockchain. Like Hearthstone/Magic, but the Users can design their own cards and balance them together. (DAO: decentral autonomous organization) (https://devpost.com/software/decentral-card-network)

KawAPI: Opening the silos of industry data. Providing a way to dynamically expose and monetize datasets and APIs, both from industry and citizen scientists. (https://devpost.com/software/tollgate-io)

crypto-doctor: crowd-sourced & encrypted patient diagnosis. (https://devpost.com/software/crypto-doctor)

Clay: neutral hardware infrastructure for Web 3.0. (https://devpost.com/software/dot-box)

d.Uni: d.Uni is a data market providing possibility to users earn some money by passing tests and help hiring company improve their process by selling collected data. (https://devpost.com/software/d-uni)

Captain Nemo: Get on board the Captain Nemo's submarine, explore data from the Ocean and let our Agents take care of it. (https://devpost.com/software/submarine-z84kqu)

Decentralify: Decentralized build and deployment pipeline for your static website. (https://devpost.com/software/decentralify)

Trojan DAO: Funding for the commons. Moloch x BC: a community currency that is: priced algorithmically as its own market maker, that is decentralised, with built-in redistributive and governance mechanisms. (https://devpost.com/software/trojan-dao-daico-funding-mechanism-for-a-moloch-dao)

Reksio: High velocity video and IoT data stream notarization service. (https://devpost.com/software/iot-data-notarization)

Joint: A contextual life organiser and hiring platform aimed at entrepreneurs, digital nomads and freelancers. (https://devpost.com/software/joint-1795u4)

HR Trust: Permission-less authentification, certification & access management. (https://devpost.com/software/hrtrust-tcg1we)

Distributed Deep-learning DID-acts: Distributed Deep Learning on top of a secure decentralised credential system built with Hyperledger Aries. (https://devpost.com/software/distributed-deep-learning-did-acts)

The following blockchain projects were present, giving talks and sponsoring the tracks:

Fetch.ai, Cosmos, Hyperledger (Sovrin, Evernym), IOTA, Odyssey, Chainlink, Ocean, Haja, Agoric, Fission, Enigma, RightMesh, Foam, Telekom, Botanic, Alkemi, BerChain, Signature Ventures, Blockwall, Nervos, DAOstack, parity, Seedtoken.io., Celo, Molecule, Mycelia, Open Source Coin, Freelio, Fractal, Tupelo, Blockdaemon, Datawallet, r3, consensys ventures, upvest, Neufund, Kilt, IOSG Venture, Datarella, Fenbushi Capital, Qtum, Certus. One

A collection of the available tech stacks for the hackathon was shared on Devpost and in this Github repo which could be a great start for an emerging shared tech stack. Outlier Ventures calls this the “Convergence Stack” and puts the technologies in 6 different levels:

  • Hardware
  • Distribution
  • Routing
  • Verification
  • Interfacing
  • Application

Check the hashtag #Diffusion19 for some insights. We especially enjoyed the track for token engineering, working on the use cases around digital identity and data marketplaces and the numerous personal conversations about blockchain and new opportunities. Thank you for this amazing event!
